The Conference will address three issues
of importance to seniors: The interactive

· Housing for Seniors, including Assisted

· Issues Related to Transportation, Medicaid,
and Respite Care for Seniors and Their Families
· Exploration of Development of Nationwide

The Conference will also include the General
Body Meeting of NIAASC.
The previous three conferences have covered
issues related to Social Security; Supplemental
Security Income (SSI); Medicare; Long Term
Care; Family Conflicts and Compromises Faced
by Senior Immigrants; Developing Senior Citizen
Programs by Local Organizations; Services
Available to Seniors through Federally funded
State and Local Programs; and Problems and
Issued Faced by Seniors of Indian Origin.
We had speakers from Social Security, HCFA
(now known as Center for Medicare & Medicaid
Services), and agencies providing host of
services to seniors through Area Agencies
on Aging. In addition to the above three
conferences NIAASC also collaborated with
India Association of Long Island, a 26-year
old community-based organization, and developed
and provided technical and logistic support
at two luncheon programs for seniors.
The NIAASC, a not-for-profit organization
under IRS Code: 501(c)3, is an information,
referral, resource and advocacy entity. Through
its web site it has linkages to many government
and non-government agencies throughout the
USA. Its newsletter provides pertinent information
to seniors and families. Its periodical article
in the Indian weekly newspaper "Indian
Reporter" - a collaborative effort-
has so far covered Entitlement Programs and
other issues. The NIAASC has responded to
a number of questions raised by the readers
of Indian Reporter as well questions asked
by listeners at 'Live and Call-In' Programs
organized by International Television (ITV).
Its collaborative relationship with a number
of national organizations addressing issues
of seniors has provided it with a wealth
of information for the benefit of seniors
of Indian origin. Its toll-free telephone
number (message only) also helps interested
persons to ask questions pertaining to their
specific problems. You have been kept informed
of the activities of NIAASC on a regular
basis through its newsletters and other correspondence
from time to time.
Early registration is strongly urged. We
